Overview

The June 2, 2026 California Primary is the first ballot test for the redrawn 2024 districts and the first contested gubernatorial primary since 2018. Every registered voter receives a vote-by-mail ballot starting May 5, which is when the mail window for persuasion and GOTV closes hard.

Campaign mail planning for the California Primary starts in March if you want predictable BMEU drop times. By April the union print queues across SoCal start booking past two weeks, and rush political work after May 1 is touch-and-go without weekend press time held in advance.

We hold weekend press time in May of every even-numbered year specifically for California rush political mail. Persuasion mail should land in-home before VBM ballots arrive; GOTV mail should land in the final 10 days, after the ballot is on the kitchen counter.
